Marathon Walk and the Oxford Half-Marathon
- Action for A-T & Nerve Tumours UK
Over the next few weeks, I will be taking part in two endurance events to hopefully raise lots of money for two small, but amazing charities – Action for A-T and Nerve Tumours UK.
On Sunday 26th September, I will be joining a big group of friends to do the Surrey Hills Marathon Walk and then, three weeks later, on Sunday 17th October, I will again be undertaking the Oxford Half Marathon.

10 Peaks in 10 Hours – Brecon Beacons
- YOUTH ADVENTURE TRUST
On Saturday 10th July 2021 we’ll be taking to the hills to conquer 10 Peaks in 10 Hours in the stunning scenery of the Brecon Beacons. It’s going to be a challenging day, with what we suspect will be less than ideal weather conditions (it’s in Wales after-all!) and a huge 34km to hike, with an epic 1695m of ascent!
We’d like to ask you to support our adventure by sponsoring us. All amounts are greatly appreciated and help to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable young people.
CALA NHC – Running for Samaritans
- The SAMARITANS
The work Samaritans do is more crucial at the moment whilst we are in ‘Lockdown 3.0’. Many people are feeling isolated this year due to social distancing and travel restrictions. They may have lost a loved one to coronavirus or feel anxious about the current circumstances. Samaritans provide a 24-hour helpline, 365 days a year, to lend an ear to those who feel they have nowhere else to turn.
Scott Dunbar – London Marathon April 2020
- Bowel Cancer UK
In the summer of last year one of my good friends Michael aged 37, passed away after being diagnosed with Bowel Cancer less than a year before which was absolutely devastating, leaving behind his wife Hannah and his 3-year-old son Arthur.
Michael was a great bloke who lived life to the full, loved keeping fit and had a passion for running. On several occasions, he applied for the London Marathon but was never successful.
In his memory and to raise awareness and money for this great cause, I decided to apply for the London Marathon along with 4 other good friends and his wife Hannah.
Before applying, I can’t remember the last time I have ran more than 5k, so the thought of 26.2 miles was a daunting challenge. Training hasn’t exactly gone to plan as I got a stress fracture on my foot before Christmas. With only 12 weeks I am back training but now need to start getting some miles under my belt.
Any help to achieve our combined team target of 15k, and words of encouragement when you see me would be greatly appreciated.

I’m running the London Marathon!
- Prostate Cancer Research Centre
I’ve made the somewhat ridiculous decision to run the London Marathon next year. I’ve chosen to run for Prostate Cancer Research Centre which is a charity close to my heart as my Grandad passed away in September after being diagnosed with Prostate Cancer 4 years ago. .
TML Golf Day 2019
- Sheila Melvin memorial
5 years ago we lost a key member of our team here at Thames Materials to cancer and decided to start the Sheila Melvin memorial golf day in her memory and choose one new charity each year alongside the Lynda Jackson centre that helped Sheila and family greatly in her time of need.
In the 4 years we have raised upwards of £200k which has been amazing and thanks to all who have helped us get there.
